How do I get to Leonard Joel?

Leonard Joel is located in the former Hawksburn Primary School at 333 Malvern Road, South Yarra. We are located between Chapel Street and Williams Road (Melway Ref: 58 E/F5). Our carpark is located at the rear of the building, which can be entered from Surrey Road. If you are coming on public transport, Number 72 trams stop outside our building, as do buses 220, 216 and 219. The Hawksburn train station is approximately a five minute walk

What if my item doesn't sell at auction, is there any charge?

There is no charge for any item unsold at auction

Are my goods insured whilst they are at Leonard Joel?

Insurance is compulsory when items are consigned with us and is 1.1% of the hammer price

Insurance covers theft, burglary, fire and malicious damage

Do I have to pay for insurance in advance?

Insurance charges are only applied if the item sells and is deducted from your payment

Do I have to be present at the auction when my goods are sold?

It is not necessary to attend the auction, but you are more than welcome to. You can contact us after the sale to find out the results

When do I get paid for items sold at auction?

For our weekly sales a cheque is issued when more than $300 of goods have been sold or all the items you have consigned to us have been sold. You should receive a cheque in the mail ten days after the sale 

For our seasonal auctions payment is made 28 days after the sale

What if I can't make it to the auction to bid?

Simply fill out an absentee bidding form stating the lot number, description of the lot and the maximum amount you would be prepared to bid up to. Give the form to reception and they will provide you with an absentee bidding number. If you are successful with your bidding we will contact you

If I leave an absentee bid will I be bid up to that amount?

The auctioneer will bid on your behalf and will go up to the maximum amount if they have to. There are other people bidding against you. Otherwise the auctioneer will knock it down to you

When do I have to pay for items bought at auction?

Items must be paid within two working days. For our weekly sale this means payment must be finalised no later than 4.00pm Monday

After I have purchased an item at auction how soon must I arrange to have it removed/collected?

For our weekly sale, items need to be collected by no later than 4.00pm Monday unless an alternative arrangement has been made. For our seasonal auctions, items need to be collected within one week of the sale

Can you recommend any carriers to collect my goods?

We can recommend carriers for local, interstate and international transportation. (Please click here to view list)
