Selling
You can sell practically anything at Leonard Joel from
everyday household items to fine antiques.
What To Do
- Appraisal - We receive goods
on Friday and Monday while the jewellery and art departments
are by appointment. Our specialist staff are on hand to
offer an obligation free verbal appraisal.
- Consigning - If you decide to
auction your goods, they are then consigned to us and we
auction on your behalf. We will advise whether items are
suitable for our weekly auction or catalogue sale. Our valuers
will help you set a realistic reserve and advise you of
the best course of action if your goods remain unsold. Remember
it is in our interest to obtain the highest price.
- Commission -
16.5% on first
$5,000 and 11% on the balance (inclusive of GST) plus
insurance 1.1% (inclusive of GST), is charged on the sale
price. For goods sold at weekly sale you will receive a
cheque for the balance within seven days. For special sales
payment is within thirty days.
Leonard Joel can
recommend carriers for transport of
your goods. We write
you a detailed receipt and discuss reserves. Goods are then
catalogued and put to auction. Should the goods be unsold,
it is up to you to arrange collection, or they can be
re-entered
into the next auction with an amended reserve.
